It is always a pleasure to visit schools. Each visit can be so very different to the last, which tends to make things a lot more exciting for me. On one of my most recent visits a twelve year old student asked me, 'Why are you here'? I thought it was a brilliant question.
Why indeed was I there?
Well as I then explained, I'm on a mission and that mission is to get as many young children back on the reading track, and as soon as possible . Unfortunately since the introduction of modern electronic games such as Playstations, Nintendo's and Wii's over the last two decades, reading a good book in many cases has become a thing of the past. In far too many homes reading has even become far less important than watching television, or playing electronic games and because of this a large majority of children will continue suffering greatly with their own ability to read. Maybe we should start a poll on the Chubbly blog?
