The Flyer is Born
I just finished reading the book last night, and I have to say I am very impressed. I really enjoyed reading it. I am from Scotland myself and i loved the part when Chubbly is in Oban, speaking to Mac and Aggie, who are speaking in a scottish accent. Brilliant ! I can't wait to read the next one, A hunch in Paris and the rest ! Keep them coming :)

Totally agree with you.
Hi there, I am a children's book author and was looking at the Illustrator's Place site blog. I am afraid that I have to totally agree with you about children reading less and less. Yesterday I had to visit my son's school to collect his end of term notes. I was talking to his form teacher about exactly the same subject, she also told me that they too were noticing a large decrease in reading standards among their pupils, especially during the last five years. This is something which we all have to change and fast! I really feel that the emphasis for this lies with the children's parents, more so than with their teachers.

Blog entry
Hi Steve, I read your blog entry about children not reading enough. I am eleven and will be twelve in April, my Mum and Dad have always helped me to read. What I mean is that they started getting me to read very early on when I was 4 or 5 and now I can't stop. I know that I definitely read far more than all of my closest friends. I also like using the computer and Playstation, but mum and dad always make sure that I spend as much time as possible with a good book. Cathy Brooks, Somerset. England.

Lorn sausage
Our whole house has gone Lorn sausage ball crazy, we can't stop eating them. Mum's even said that she's going to stuff the turkey with it this year instead of our usual stuffing. Just as well we all love it! Mary Hickstead. St Albans Herts.

SCARED TO DEATH
Hi Chubbly, I just liked to say that I scared the pants off of my sister Mary. I downloaded the Taratula onto her Computer when she wasn't in her room. Eventually, when she came back I hid out of the way and watched her touch her mouse which imediately brought up the Spider on her screen, she leapt up screaming into the air knocking over her chair and study lamp. Thanks for letting me be able to see such a pleasureful sight.

Love the spider Chubbly it looks like he really is inside the screen. My mum won't come anywhere near my computer now. But that's not a bad thing is it? Lou Blake, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

Delicious recipe.
Chubbly I must say that the recipe for Mac's mum's Lorn sausage is truly fantastic. Like you say I can't wait until MAC Donalds are serving it up over their counters, I'll be having a double with extra cheese, my mouth is watering at just the thought of it, let alone that gorgeous aroma. Ever thought about doing a cookery book with recipes from all the places that you have travelled? I seriously think that you should do. Amanda Wright, Westoning, Bedfordshire.

Lorn Sausage balls
Hello Chubbly, I was looking through your blog and noticed that someone had the idea of making kind of meatballs with the Lorn sausage meat instead of the normal squares. I can tell you that I have two really fussy kids, and making them this way, and serving them with mashed potatoes and beans or peas my kids both eat the lot. So thanks for the idea of Chubbly Lorn sausage balls. They are a sure way to get my two to eat. Kathy Berks, Reigate, Surrey.

Hi there I have just made the paper plane and we live near to the sea, so I am able to launch it from the cliff tops, the wind catches it and it seems to fly for ages. Mike Simmonds, Barton on Sea, New Milton, Hampshire.

Lifes a Pickle!
Hi Chubbly, just wanted to say how much we are enjoying that lovely Green Tomato chutney. Dad likes it hot so we put in the maximum chillies and it's Fan-Chutney-Tastic! Spread the word, spread the chutney, it's soooo tasty. Christine Durame, Whitechapel, London.
